MAI Construction is proud to yet again support Construction Safety Week 2026—but for us, safety isn’t a once-a-year initiative. It’s a daily commitment that shapes how we plan, build, and deliver every project.

That commitment is reflected in our results, including a 0.00 Recordable Incident Rate (RIR) over the past several years and a consistently strong EMR.

At MAI, safety isn’t complicated, it’s intentional. Our approach is built on three core principles:

Common Sense, Applied Consistently

We keep safety practical by focusing on proven best practices and reinforcing them across every project.

Individual Empowerment

Every team member is empowered to stop work if something isn’t safe—no exceptions.

3rd Party Input

A third-party safety expert provides objective input and accountability to keep our standards consistently high.

This approach doesn’t just protect our teams—it protects our clients and partners. Safer jobsites mean fewer disruptions, reduced risk exposure, and more predictable project outcomes.

Supporting Construction Safety Week 2026: Recognize, Respond, Respect

This year’s Construction Safety Week theme "Recognize, Respond, Respect" aligns closely with how we approach safety every day.

RECOGNIZE the Presence and Impact of High Energy / High Hazards / STCKY (Stuff that can kill you) Activities

Every project presents different risks. With experience across industries, project sizes, and risk profiles, our teams quickly identify high-hazard activities through early planning, job hazard analyses, and ongoing site evaluation, so risks are understood and addressed before work begins.

RESPOND by Putting Direct Controls in Place

With over 50 years of experience, we know what works and what doesn’t. Our teams put that into action through monthly safety training, weekly tailgates, daily site walks, and regular site inspections to ensure safety measures are consistently applied in the field. This is built into our culture and project planning—not treated as an afterthought.

RESPECT Every Hazard, Every Person, Every Life and Every Role in Safety

Safety is a shared responsibility. From leadership to the field, every person plays a role in maintaining a safe environment and is empowered to act when conditions change. Every task, every site, every day—safety comes first.

“At MAI, our goal is simple: everyone has a great day at work and goes home safe. We take a common-sense approach to safety and empower every team member, whether in the office or on site, to look out for themselves and each other. When that happens, it’s more than just a good day—it’s what matters most.”
